Short run this morning
Had every intention to go for a longer run but we had some plans and I got out of bed later than usual. I’ll make up for it this weekend, planning a ride or two.
One thing is for sure, I need cold weather riding gear. I have cold weather stuff for running but it’s not suitable for riding, at least not all of it. I am moving very soon and will live right next to a nice running/biking...
Short ride this morning
Just a quick 5 mile ride this morning. It rained all night so the roads were still wet but my tires held the road just fine (first ride on wet pavement and I didn’t take the corners easy). Just a bit of road grime spray. I miss riding the bike and plan on making it a larger part of my exercise regimen.
Thinking of taking this in a new direction
I started this blog with the intent of keeping it focused and bike commuting and riding. However, as things have changed as they often do. I am refocusing the blog to include running and fitness in general. I mean they are all interrelated any way. So going forward it should still be heavy on biking it will also include other topics related to running and fitness.
Trying something new
Thinking about trying a randonneur next year. Just for something different. Will be modifying my Jamis Allegro for this, nothing major just a set of bull bars and clip less peddles. I actually want to complete a century ride first. Any suggestions?

Bike friendly cities
Still unemployed and making the best of it. Looking around and realizing relocation may be necessary. If so I will do my best to look for a biking friendly city and employer. May as well take the opportunity to improve my situation.
Any recommendations?
Not commuting but riding
I have been riding again. working it into my workout routine. Everywhere I have been going, I have been driving as it is always too far to ride. Although, I have found a local coffee shop in my town and it is in riding distance. So I may take my job searches there in the mornings a few times a week. With the new baby (that could be here any day) I can’t really commit to any thing other than...

Tried a short run
This morning I figured I would go for a short run, since my doctor said let pain be my guide. I figured I would give it a try. Well I got a few blocks into the run and I started to feel it in my shoulder. It didn’t hurt but I don’t want to take it that far. Just walking and biking for now I guess. Still haven’t tried push-up, probably not a good idea.
Short ride
Got out and went for a short ride this evening. Nothing special just a quick 2 or 3 mile ride. First ride with the new Timbuk2 bag. Rode well, as I expected. Felt good to get a workout in, even a short one.
Getting back on the ball
Still waiting to see what the extent of my injury is. I know I have a pinched nerve and a pulled muscle. What I don’t know for sure is that there may be other injuries that need to be dealt with. There is some possibility of a bulging disk and some arthritis in my neck. I’ll have to wait for an MRI to see if and how bad they may be. Till then I will just go for eating right, easy...
Moving in a slightly different direction
Not as bad as is sounds. This is still a biking blog but I am going to widen it just a bit to include fitness related items. Since a. I don’t have a job to commute to right now and b. I haven’t been riding much since my injury (or before). No major change, not that I have any followers to upset anyway.
Just a few extras post on some other, related, topics. Such as diet, fitness,...
New shoes and a short night time ride
I have been needing new shoes for a while. I have been using an old pair of warn out running shoes. On a few occasions they slipped off my pedals, the tread is warn pretty smooth. So tonight I picked up a pair of cheap skateboard sneakers. After we got home and everyone was in bed I decided to take them for a quick test ride. Plus, I like riding at night. They are much more comfortable than the...
Injury recovery, leasurely rides and iced coffee
About 10 days ago I pulled a muscle which resulted in a pinched nerve. I am now feeling better, not quite ready to go full bore on the working out kick. But some nice leisurely rides are definately in order. I have been wanting to ride to my “local” Starbucks, which is actually about 7.5 miles away. Not a really a bad ride, just a nice leasurely, longer ride. Even with the heat it...

Last commute
Well Thursday was my last commute. My department was reorganized and a couple positions were eliminated. I really don’t have the luxury of limiting my job search to locations that are within bike commuting range. So, my riding may be limited to the weekends for a while.
But in the mean time, I have all the time in the world to ride, run and workout.
WooHoo!!!

Nice day for a bike ride
Finally, the weather is on my side. Sunny and warm, not too hot. Should be a nice ride home as well. The ride to work went smooth, my days always seem to go better when sandwiched between two rides.
Saturday ride
Went for a 16.44 mile ride this morning. It was a good ride at a leisurely pace, which most of my rides are. Just need to invest on some riding shorts, still a bit sore.
Here comes the rain
Enjoyed today’s ride. The forecast is calling for rain the rest of the week.
Bike parking
Wishing I had better bike parking. The location is fine, but I would rather have a proper bike rack. Currently, I just lock it to a fence around the back of the building. The plus side is there are multiple cameras and people there to keep an eye on it. Right now there are of two of us that ride here, they want more before buying a bike rack.
There is enough room for a second bike, but the third...
Finally, a nice day to ride
The weather is on my side today. Rode in to work and looking forward to the ride home.
Tomorrow is looking like a good day to ride
The forecast for tomorrow is looking pretty good. Think I’ll be riding in the morning.
Woohoo!

Feeling guilty
Haven’t touched my bike in a few days, I am starting to feel guilty.
Too much rain in the forecast
It seems there is rain on the forecast all week. I could have ridden today if I didn’t go to Roots with Tyann. But neither of us can resist the farmers market. Tomorrow isn’t good either as I have an appointment before work, that is way too far to ride to.
Hopefully next week is better.
Commute, day 3
Quick commute this morning. In the 15 to 20 minute range. A bit cloudy, hoping the forecast doesn’t change till 6:30.
First week commuting.
The move is not finished but we are in the new house. I will have commuted (by bike) for three of the four planned days. Rain kept the bike at home yesterday. Although, my plan is to commute all year despite the weather. Just need to get myself geared up for rainy weather.
